Centenarian Strategies: How to Stay Happy, Healthy, Fit and Sharp Until You're 100

ULA is turning 100 - learn how you can reach that age, too!  Devera Kastner, a librarian at the Cleveland Clinic, started Happy Healthy Long Life: A Medical Librarian's Adventures in Evidence-Based Living in 2008.  She uses this blog to write about what the health and fitness researchers are really reporting in the medical journals – not the spin we read in press releases - and shares the great information she learns along the way.  Even more interesting, she “test-drives” the new practices being reported – sometimes for a year or more – and chronicles her experiences.  For this presentation, Devra will focus on how to adopt the best of longevity research for a healthy body and mind, and will engage you with video clips, graphic illustrations, and her personal success stories.

The Medium Defines the Message

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental Region is a member organization of libraries and resource centers that provide access to health information. Communicating with our members is complicated because there are so many ways to communicate and individuals like to be communicated with in certain ways. The NN/LM MCR staff looked at the communication media we use (web site, listserv, blog, Twitter, Facebook) and came up with a plan describing the type of message to send out via each medium. Come and hear how our plan worked out and how others are channeling their messages to fit the media.
