Summer Reading Update & Idea Sharing

As you prepare for Summer Reading 2013, "Dig Into Reading", youth
librarians have the opportunity to get together with colleagues, share
ideas and ask questions of each other. If you have some great program
or craft ideas planned, bring your ideas--and a sample--to share with
the group. Matt McLain will also share information from the CSLP
annual meeting, including sample materials for 2014's "Fizz, Boom,
Read!", slogans for 2015 and theme for 2016.

What Librarians Need to Know About the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Young Adult Literature

The implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in public education will greatly impact both public and school librarians.  These new standards  give us many strong reasons to become advocates for real children’s young adult literature in the classroom.  This presentation will introduce librarians to the CCSS and give them practical approaches and ideas for the promoting modern young adult literature though the standards.
