UTAH LAW MAKER HONORED AS LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR
UTAH LAW MAKER HONORED AS LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR
The Government Documents Round Table of the Utah Library Association is pleased to present the 2012 Legislator of the Year award to Senator Curt Bramble for his sponsorship of Senate Bill 177, the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) Amendments, in this past Utah legislative session. This bill was signed by Governor Gary R. Herbert on March 23, 2012. The legislation improves GRAMA by increasing training for records officers, creates a government records ombudsman, and amends other relevant provisions related to government records. Senator Bramble was also in favor of Senate Bill 100, the Law Library Self-Help Center. This bill was also signed by the Governor, and increases state-wide public access to government and legal information by the Utah State Law Library.
Senator Bramble and the GRAMA Working Group have received numerous accolades in the media and he is the recipient of previous recognitions from the Utah Technology Council and Utah Media Coalition. The presentation of the award will take place at the Association's Centennial Annual Meeting at the Salt Palace (Thursday, April 26, at 3:00 p.m., Ballroom B).
